Are you trying to remove the back from your Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11s, but can’t seem to find the right screwdriver? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. In this blog post, we’ll show you how to remove the back from your Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11s using a Torx screwdriver.
Step One: Gather the Proper Tools
In order to remove the back of your Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11s, you will need a small Phillips head screwdriver and a small Torx head screwdriver.
Step Two: Remove the Battery
Using your Phillips head screwdriver, remove the two screws located on the bottom of the Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11s near the hinge. These screws hold the battery in place. With the screws removed, lift up on the battery and it will come out. Set it aside and do not put it back in until you are ready to replace the back cover.
Step Three: Remove the Back Cover
On the bottom of your Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11s, there are nine small Torx screws holding the back cover in place. Using your Torx head screwdriver, remove these screws and set them aside. With all of the screws removed, gently lift up on the back cover and it will come off. Be careful not to lose any of the small pieces that may come off with it, such as rubber foot pads or plastic clips. You will need these to replace the back cover when you are finished working on your device.
Step Two: Remove the Battery
Remove the two 6.0 mm T5 screws from the base of the device using a Torx screwdriver.
Remove the battery by carefully lifting it out of the device. You may need to use a flat head screwdriver to help pry it out.
Step Three: Unscrew the Torx Screws
Remove the three T5 Torx screws holding the back panel in place. They’re located right above the keyboard, as shown in the image below.
Once you’ve removed the screws, the back panel will come off easily. Be careful not to damage the plastic pins that hold it in place.
Step Four: Pry the Back Cover Off
Using the unscrewed end of your spudger, pry on the thin, metal strip that circles the entire laptop. The back cover should lift off easily. If it doesn’t, check to see if you’ve missed any screws.
Step Five: Remove the Fan
Remove the following screws securing the fan to the system board:
-One 4 mm T5 Torx screw
-One 3 mm T5 Torx screw
-One 2.6 mm Phillips #0 screws
Lift and remove the fan.
The fan is now removed.
Step Six: Remove the Heat Shield
Unscrew the two 3.5mm screws holding the heat shield in place. The heat shield is located just above the battery.
Step Seven: Take Out the Battery Cable
Remove the battery cable by depressing the tab on the connector and pulling it out.
Step Eight: Reassemble Your Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11s
Now that you have the back of your Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11s removed, it’s time to put it back together! Start by lining up the screws in their appropriate holes. If you have trouble getting the screws started, try using a drop of superglue on the threads (being careful not to get any glue on the plastic). Once the screws are started, tighten them down finger-tight. Next, replace the battery and screw it into place. Finally, pop on the back cover and press it into place. That’s it – you’re finished!
